Christine is a fashion designer and dressmaker based in Toronto. She creates one of a kind, bespoke pieces for all occasions, with thoughtful and unique details.

Christine first learned to sew in the late ‘80s from her mother. Spending hours, digging in her fabric boxes, agonizing over the perfect buttons or ribbon, she created unique costumes and outfits for her Cabbage Patch dolls. As the tall kid, she quickly took to making her own clothes. This ignited the passion for creating original pieces with interesting details. In 2006 she started night classes for pattern drafting at Estee’s Fabrics, a high end fabric shop in Edmonton, AB. Under the direction of Estee Huget and Fran Bisbing, there she learned to create pattern blocks from measurements and properly fit them on body shapes of all sorts, using the students in class as examples. The meticulous and precise ways of Estee and Fran, forever engrained in her work. In 2008 she attended LaSalle College in Montreal, QC to further her education in the fashion industry. Learning more production based drafting and sewing, as well as fabric draping and corsetry. Settling in Toronto in late 2009, she started an internship at TFI, with Mana Mojaver and her line Manam. Getting a first hand look into the business of custom dressmaking for evening and bridal.

Since then, the desire to learn everything about couture dressmaking and fit has been above all. Tambour beading workshops, embroidery, experiments in dyeing and journeys with gold and silver leaf to create contemporary pieces with traditional roots.

In 2016 CMP Couture was launched, and Christine has been creating one of a kind couture ever since. From everyday pieces, swimwear, lingerie, evening, party looks, modern heirlooms and of course, bridal. Each piece gets the same attention to detail and creativity, working alongside the client to create something special and unique with a great fit.

“It’s truly an honour to be able to work with so many wonderful women. Collaborating to create these perfectly unique pieces for life’s special moments.” -Christine

How it works

Let’s get a coffee and chat. Bring your inspirations and ideas, tell me what you like, what you don't, what your vision is, and how you want to feel. I'll sketch some ideas, source fabrics, dye and bead samples- I’ll put together a taste of what’s to come. Measurements are taken, your pattern is drafted, and a muslin sample is made. Once the fit is right, the magic starts. Watch your piece come to life and evolve through each fitting. Good things take time.
